Losing Weight After Pregnancy

Losing weight after pregnancy is a common struggle that many moms face on a daily basis. What makes it so difficult for most is how fast it all happens. You use to be proud and confident of your body and after ballooning for 9 months, you literally deflate overnight. And all that’s left in the aftermath is a larger distorted version of you that bears a slight resemblance of your pre-pregnancy days.

While many moms continue to wonder how to lose pregnancy weight, most never make it out of this rut and instead learn to accept that they and their body have changed for the worst. But you don’t have to.

There are 4 simple steps that you can follow to start losing weight after pregnancy and get back into your pre-pregnancy shape.

Step 1: Diet and Nutrition

One of the easiest and most important steps to losing weight after pregnancy is to eat right for you. But because most moms have no idea what their body needs this is one of the biggest mistakes that I see.

The truth is that there is no one right diet for all moms. We all have different needs.

This is why I use a scientifically designed system to determine what any mom’s exact dietary needs are.

You can start to figure this out on your own with a little detective work. Start playing around with your macronutrient ratios and see if there is any combination that gives you more energy and that makes you feel better. Once you get your diet figured out then losing baby weight becomes easy.

Step 2: Balance Your Hormones

When it comes to losing weight after pregnancy, hormones are one of the most neglected topics there is. Not only does pregnancy and giving birth have a rollercoaster affect on your hormones, it leaves most moms hormones out of whack indefinitely. And if your hormones are out of balance then you WILL have a very difficult time with your post pregnancy weight loss.

Step 3: Exercise and Movement

Exercise, when done correctly, is an amazing tool for losing weight after pregnancy. But keep in mind I did say, when done correctly.

Most moms are wrongly in the mindset that jumping on the treadmill and burning lots of calories is the best way to lose weight. And when it doesn’t work, they just go for longer and longer trying to burn more and more calories. This just isn’t effective.

Postpartum exercise should always begin with re-balancing your core. Not only will this help you get rid of your post pregnancy belly and remold your body, it is also important for preventing back pain and future injuries.

Step 4: Reduce Your Stress

Reducing or minimizing your stress levels is another means of losing weight after pregnancy that is completely overlooked.

And while being a parent is oftentimes stressful, there are other areas of your life that you can easily work on to reduce other more controllable forms of stress.

Overtired and lacking sleep? Make up sleep by skipping TV time and getting to bed early when needed.

Losing your cool too easily? Practice some breathing techniques to calm yourself down in seconds.

Can’t get dinner done? Be prepared and have a backup meal in the freezer.

There are so many reasons why we get stressed out but the majority of them can easily be overcome if you’re prepared to handle them properly. It’s not as hard as it sounds. It just takes a little bit of practice.
